Glen Cove

Glen Cove Beach sits on the eastern end of Drummond Island — a scenic, family-friendly destination for beachgoers, campers, and paddlers. The beach features a large half-moon cove with sandy areas on either side and small rocky “hard heads” along the remainder of the arc. Children love exploring the shoreline for colorful stones, and the gently sloping sand makes for easy swimming. No lifeguards are on duty, so keep a close watch on young swimmers.

Camping & Fires

Tent camping is permitted directly on the beach, and campfires are allowed — just be sure to fully extinguish your fire before leaving. A Michigan state camping permit is required for all overnight stays.

Kayaking & Canoeing

The sheltered cove is ideal for launching kayaks or canoes. Intermediate paddlers can enjoy a 2.5-mile paddle south to Pilot Harbor, another protected area where camping is allowed with a Michigan DNR Camp Registration Card.

Hiking

From the Glen Cove Beach parking lot, a well-marked trail leads to the Marble Head Viewpoint — six miles round trip. The viewpoint sits 150 feet above Lake Huron on a limestone outcropping, with sweeping views of the lake and a clear line of sight to Cockburn Island, Canada, just two miles across the water.
