Relaxation, adventure, escape, and quality time with family and friends are among the many reasons why camping is a beloved pastime on Drummond Island. Whether your idea of camping is from a car, RV, boat, or a strenuous trek into the wilderness, there is something for you here. Our campgrounds and campsites can range from backcountry-wild to full-hookup convenience. ​There are countless ways to sleep near the lake and beneath the stars. On Drummond Island, you’ll always be a happy camper.

The Drummond Island Township Park is located approximately 6 miles from the Ferry Dock. A directional sign on the left-hand side of M-134 leads you down a very winding, hard-packed gravel road to the park entrance (0.5 miles). It is a first-come, first-served park; no reservations. You can elect to use the park on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. One of the beauties of this park is its vast tree canopy, located on the rocky shore facing west. The sunsets are gorgeous! One section of the park leads you to a sand beach, where the water is nice and shallow about 100 yards out. From the beach, you can walk to a neighboring small island, which the kids really enjoy.
The park can accommodate RV’s (max. 31 ft), as well as tents. There are 46 sites; three-quarters of the sites have electric hook-up. There are two spigoted drinking water wells, a concrete boat launch ramp, a centrally located pavilion, and out houses. Each campsite provides a picnic table and fire pit. Firewood can be purchased at Johnson’s Sport Shop, the Drummond Island EZ Mart, Sune’s Home Center, and Sune’s Grocery. Grocery stores and restaurants are about two miles east.

​The Drummond Island Heritage Trail, located next to the park, is another nice feature. This trail is utilized for hiking, snowshoeing, bird watching, and nature walking. The lower section is approximately one mile, and the upper section is another mile.

Dispersed camping can take place on state-owned land other than state parks, recreation areas, state forest campgrounds or state game area campgrounds. You can camp anywhere on State

Forest Property as long as:
The property is not posted “No Camping.”
You are more than one mile from a designated State Forest Campground
You follow all State Land Rules
